Hotel Burg Oberranna, 5 km north-west of Spitz an der Donau, in the heart of the Wachau. Standing on the steep hillsides of Mühltal Valley, it traces its roots back to the 12th century.

In the 16th century, the original castle was remodeled into a true defensive fortification, a fact still attested to by its ringed outer wall and defensive towers, as well as an inner and outer castle moat.  During those 16th-century changes, a four-winged structure was created around a rectangular arcaded courtyard.

Burg Oberranna was lovingly restored with a high level of architectural expertise and in close consultation with Austria's Office of Historic Monuments. This work proved exceptionally difficult, as we strove to preserve the original historic structure of the castle, while at the same time creating apartments with all the modern comforts.

Burg Oberranna offers its guests apartments and double rooms.

The 2- to 4-person apartments consist of a living room, bedroom, kitchenette, shower and WC. Our double rooms feature a combination living and bedroom with kitchenette, shower and WC.

A common dining room and guest lounge, along with a castle tavern are also available for the enjoyment of all our guests.

Outstanding traditional cuisine is served up at restaurants in the village of Mühldorf and throughout the Wachau Valley.
